{Fears}

I just recently completed Carolyn Mara Borlenghi's The Unapologetic Artist class at The DEFINE School. It was amazing.

Below you will find my project on {Fears} that I created during the course of the class.

Fears. They forebode an uncontrollable feeling of danger and threat whether it be true or not to so many. This project has given me an opportunity to express and work through many of my everyday fears. The fear each image represents was present during the process of each self portrait taken in this series. I feel my art is very deep and personal to me. I find myself drawn to the darker side in photography. Through the use of deep shadows and light in my black and white images I aim to convey a variety of emotions. We all have fears. I believe by viewing and connecting with the fears of others one can begin to face the fears deep within themselves.

“The psyches and souls of women also have their own cycles and seasons of doing and solitude, running and staying, being involved and being removed, questing and resting, creating and incubating, being of the world and returning to the soul-place.”
― Clarissa Pinkola Estés

“I hope you will go out and let stories, that is life, happen to you, and that you will work with these stories... water them with your blood and tears and your laughter till they bloom, till you yourself burst into bloom.”

Life {Unscripted} Vol. 13

We are celebrating our 1 year anniversary this month at L{U}.

This group of photographers have become so much more than that to me.

I'm truly lucky to be a part of such an amazing group of

artists, and friends.

This month we are taking a favorite {Unscripted} image from each month over the last year.

Please, if you have the time take a moment to continue through our circle.

Ann Marie is up next from One 33 Photography. You'll really enjoy her favorite 12!

Life {Unscripted} Vol.12

Volume 12 of Life {Unscripted} is here just in time for me to share

some of my trip to Tennessee to visit family.

Here's a small sample of the many images I took a couple of weeks ago.

I miss everyone already.

Crystal Raynard Photography is up next and she

has such a way with capturing {Unscripted} moments.

I do hope you'll check her out!

BW Child Photo Competition 2015

I loved finding out that my double exposure image, {Eyes}, of my daughter Linhsey was nominated in the first half of the 2015 BW Child Photo Competition in the Conceptual and Photo Manipulation Category.

I see so many others whom I admire and respect that have made it into this competition, and I couldn't be happier for them. I think we all have an understanding of what goes into this craft.

It's a rollercoaster ride of emotions,

but I wouldn't want it any other way.

They are accepting entries for the second half of the competition now.

Go enter!

Life {Unscripted} Vol. 11

I'm starting off the circle at L{U} this month, but after me I do hope you'll head over to

Elise Meader's website  . Elise is a beautiful person inside and out,

and it shines through with her {Unscripted} photography.

The Creativity Project {Loud}

Life can be loud sometimes.

Really loud.

Sometimes I need to quiet it down.

Often I look for ways to

quiet the {Loud}.

Running Out {Self Portrait Project}

The illimitable, silent, never-resting thing called Time, rolling, rushing on, swift, silent, like an all-embracing ocean-tide, on which we and all the universe swim like exhalations, like apparitions which are, and then are not....

~Thomas Carlyle

The clock talked loud. I threw it away, it scared me what it talked.

~Tillie Olsen, Tell Me a Riddle

“It has been said, 'time heals all wounds.' I do not agree. The wounds remain. In time, the mind, protecting its sanity, covers them with scar tissue and the pain lessens. But it is never gone.”
― Rose Kennedy

The Greenhouse & Gardens

Perfumes are the feelings of flowers, and as the human heart, imagining itself alone and unwatched, feels most deeply in the night-time, so seems it as if the flowers, in musing modesty, await the mantling eventide ere they give themselves up wholly to feeling, and breathe forth their sweetest odours. Flow forth, ye perfumes of my heart, and seek beyond these mountains the dear one of my dreams! ~Heinrich Heine, "The Hartz Journey" (1824)
